Pineview Designs Knitting Club and Yarn Shoppe - Yarn Sales

It has been a while since I last shared news about our biannual yarn sales—back in October 2024, in fact. Since then, these events have continued twice each year and have grown into something truly special.

Their success is thanks in large part to our incredible volunteer core team, along with the many new volunteers who step in to help with setup and teardown. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

Of course, these events would not be what they are without the amazing knitting community—both our regulars and those joining us for the first time—who come out to support us in all kinds of weather, whether rainy and cool or sunny and warm. Thank you all for being part of this journey.

Our last sale was Sept 2025 and the day started off a little brisk, but the sunshine stuck around and so did all of you! It was wonderful to catch up with friends and to welcome so many new people into our Pineview Designs Knitting Cub and Yarn Shoppe community.

One of the ways I choose our Specialty classes is by listening to you. When you see a project you love and ask for it, I do my best to add it to the schedule. A perfect example is the Chamerion Poncho that Madja is wearing- so many of you admired it, requested a class, and we added it to the Spring 2026 Class Schedule.

Lots of sock yarn to choose from perfect for filling your gift drawer or treating your own toes.

Our ready‑made kits were a big hit, giving you yarn and pattern all in one so you can cast on right away.

And if you were looking for a truly one-of-a kind hand knitted garment or accessory, we had you covered there too.

While our yarn sales have continued to thrive in 2026, we are also excited to share an important change. Our beloved outdoor tented areas are here to stay, continuing to create that charming European market atmosphere you know and love. At the same time, we have expanded in a big way. Our newly enlarged yarn shed—now proudly called the Yarn Shoppe—has been open since February 2026, with our Grand Opening celebrated in April.

Thank you, everyone! We had such an incredible turnout—the driveway filled up, and guests were parking along the street. There were lineups at Elizabeth’s check out table, and it meant so much to see people come from near and far. And in the end, we only got a little bit wet!

Ring the bell and enter the world of Pineview Designs Knitting Club and Yarn Shoppe- where, yarn, accessories, garments, classes and community all come together.

Three generations of knitters, all sharing the same love for yarn, stitches and time together.

Our extra-special discounts were a huge hit! One knitter was so excited about her “amazing deal” that she had to double-check it was real.

To make things extra fun, we had five prize bags for our winners to choose from—no peeking allowed. After a very official draw by mom and her friend Roswitha... drumroll please ....

The winners are:

  • Sally K - interchangeable needle set

  • Sandra Spence - gift certificate

  • Nancy Goodman - git certificate

  • Donna - shawl kit

  • Diane Carlson - mug kit

Sally is very happy with her prize...

And so is Dianne.

I am incredibly proud and excited to see this long-held vision finally come to life.

This expansion could not have happened without the outstanding support of my husband Chris, my son Lance and his wife Sam, my mom, and contractor extraordinaire, Brad Stentse of Ravenwood Joinery Ltd.

Brad started this journey in October 2025 by pouring the concrete pad, which had to cure for several days – thankfully the weather cooperated. Once that was done, he got down to the hard work of building the new structure and attaching it to the existing building. This was not an easy task, but with perseverance he got it done.

Getting started, building the concrete pad.

Concrete poured and now we wait until it cures.

We even tucked a 2025 loonie into the concrete pad as it was poured—a tiny golden secret in the foundation. Legend says a coin in the base of a building brings good luck to the space and to everyone who steps inside.

The framing for our new addition is built and securely attached to what was the Yarn Shed....So much more space.

The roof is on and the new door is in—one step closer to moving inside and staying warm through this very cold winter.

Now onto the inside. Brad was incredibly diligent in bringing my vision to life. At the same time, he drew on his deep contracting and design knowledge to offer suggestions so I could refine that vision. A few ideas were not an easy sell, and I was not fully convinced at first, but I am so glad I listened. The ceiling, pot lights, flooring and HVAC system now add so much to the overall feel I want for the Yarn Shoppe. The result is a space with a warm, welcoming vibe that blends new and vintage elements, bright and inviting, filled with premier fibers, quality crafting tools, inspiring kits, and reasonably priced garments. Brad also worked closely with Chris and myself when we ran into some unexpected issues, and together they were able to solve them and keep us moving forward.

Brad and the electricians are very busy, bringing the new space one step closed to being ready for all of you.

Brad is hard at work installing the tongue and groove ceiling, and every board is adding so much character to the shop.

Getting ready for painting... one of my favourite things to do.

And it is looking good.... Brad can now finish the trim and install the flooring.

The painting is complete and the space looks so beautiful and bright. I was half convinced I should move in.... and just look at those floors....

Once the interior was completed, Brad took on the task of adding the siding to the structure. He worked through some of the coldest days in December, and the final result is truly amazing. At the same time, Chris and I tackled the installation of the shelving units, which was no easy job. I am incredibly grateful for Chris’s construction expertise and woodworking skills—he managed to install even the most stubborn shelves. He also built some beautiful custom pieces that I now use to display garments throughout the shop.

Then came the fun part: filling the space with yarn, garments, and accessories. Thanks to Sonia and Debra, this process went quickly, and I was able to focus on the final touches to bring my vision to life.

I truly cannot express my gratitude enough to everyone who supported me throughout this journey, as well as to the knitting community who have visited, browsed, and shopped in the Yarn Shoppe. It means so much to hear how much you are enjoying the relaxed, no-pressure shopping experience.

I couldn’t do any of this without my amazing admin, Elizabeth D! Her diligence allows me to focus on knitting class samples and gives me the time I need to prepare helpful class notes. She keeps everything running smoothly, reminds me of the important details, and helps keep me on track—especially when my “squirrel brain” starts leading me down too many rabbit holes. I’m incredibly grateful for everything she does.

Our next Annual Yarn Sale will be held on September 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, rain or shine. Everyone is welcome—we look forward to seeing you there.

In the meantime, Happy Knitting

Gabriela
